1. Domain flip: Just like flipping a house in real estate. Find good domains. Buy them. Then find a seller that will pay you more than what you paid for the domain. I usually use GoDaddy and NameTumbler to find domains. GoDaddy sucks at hosting services, but if just want a place to hold a domain, you cannot beat them. Between their parking, forwarding and DNS abilities, they are by far the best. NameTumbler is a great way to find domains. The dot com gold rush made many millionaires but there's still plenty of money in domain real estate and still some good catches available. A good dot com may be difficult to find now, but it still is possible. And there are always .info and .net domains that you can take up. Put your thinking hat on, buy a famous word domain for a few dollars and put it up on the domain selling sites.
As with tangible real estate, you can buy virtual plots (URL addresses), flip them and make a buck. GoDaddy sells unused domain names for under $10 apiece. To attract buyers, run tests to determine how often certain key words are searched so that you can demonstrate the likelihood that your URL will show up in a Google or Yahoo! search.
2. Flip Websites: Domain name flipping is the simple process of buying a domain name and then selling it for more money – so what exactly is website flipping all about? If you’d prefer something a little more challenging (and potentially a lot more profitable) then website flipping might just be for you. It’s a longer process but the time you invest in this particular activity can net you a lot of cash. And there is more than one way of doing it as well, as you’re about to find out.
3. Garage Sale/Antique Flip: This is my favorite thing to do in the whole wide world. As you can tell from this list, I have tried quite a few things in order to make money. The most consistent money I make is from these garage sale/ flea markets. Scour the sales, buy, and resell on eBay or Craigslist. I profit nearly every single time. You start knowing deals. You go to a garage sale and see that one item and your eyes get real big and you get it for nearly nothing. I once bought a near new bike for $5. Ends up it was a classic, fixed gear bike I ended up selling for $845. I sold it within 2 hours of picking it up. I made nearly $400 an hour. I don’t know if I will ever get close to that ever again!
Garage sale: The stuff you can't sell online, you could sell from your garage on the weekends. Gather up your neighbors, post ads on craigslist about your garage sale and have everyone pitch in. Live on a cul-de-sac? Have a block party garage sale with every house having a garage sale on the same day.
Real-life example: Once or twice a year, I sell extra stuff I’ve accumulated. Each year at our garage sale, I make about $300. Every couple years, I sell more valuable items on eBay. Last year I made $1,500 for a few hours of work.
4. Design Web logos and flash logos: If you're good with Photoshop or flash creation and can work quickly, you could make some decent cash with this online business. If you consider yourself to be someone who is creative and has the ability to create designs appropriate for corporations, why not try creating company logos? The most popular place for submitting ideas for logos is 99 Designs. 5. Freelance: This is a very BROAD category. I will cover more specific freelancing opps in the future. For now, freelance is basically being your own boss. You go out and find jobs, do the work, and get paid. Kind of like a contract employee, but not really. Writing, website design, data entry, personal assistant, you name it, you can freelance it. 6. Etsy: Etsy.com is a place where you can sell a homemade product. If you can sew, build, or mold anything, you should be selling on Etsy. For example, my wife just learned how to sew. She only knows how to sew one thing: Pajama pants. She is learning more, but for now, it is just pajama pants. But she can make killer pajama pants. She sits on the couch, while we are watching TV, and sews her pants. Then I take the pants and sell them on Etsy. Every single pair of pants have sold. So we build on it and tell our customers they can choose their own pattern and we will custom make the pants. So now, using her basic knowledge of pajama pants, we own our own etsy store selling custom made PJ pants.
If you know how to make birdhouses, ceramic cake toppers, pantyhose, whatever-you should be selling on etsy. If you don't know how to make, sew, mold or building something, LEARN! Like I said, my wife has only been sewing for about a month at the time of writing this article, but she has perfected the art of pajama pants. Get really good at one thing and start selling. Once you have the time, branch off and learn something else.
7. eBay Arbitrage: Find items that you know are selling below their full value (either online or through a deal website like SlickDeals.net) buy them and sell them on eBay for more. Once you find your product niche you can set up a system.
8. Sell your books on Half.com: Why is Half.com better than eBay for books? Because with Half.com there are no listing fees and you can get your listing up and running in a few seconds once you are good at it. Getting set up with Half.com isn't difficult. Once you have your seller's account, most titles can be sold by just entering the ISBN number of the book and the quality level of the book you are selling; Half.com does the rest. Marijo listed 100 books in two hours when she first started...and 27 of them sold very quickly! That's how easy this business can be!
9. Small business web design: Thanks to technology, anyone can become a web designer. If you have spent any time online, you know what websites are easy to use, and which ones frustrate you. Go onto Craigslist and find gigs that want to build you websites. Remember, you have hardly zero website building experience. USE THAT IN YOUR PITCH! Since you have no experience, you think outside the box. You know what consumers like because you are a consumer. You will be cheaper than anyone else. You will be faster than anyone else because you only take one job at a time. Make sure you under promise and over deliver. You may get follow up projects!
10. Scalp tickets: Of course, scalping is illegal. So flipping tickets it what we are going to call it. This is done just like eBay or Craiglist. Buy low and sell high. Keep tabs on how a certain concert or show is doing. If you think it is going to be huge, buy tickets early, and sell them late. You will pull a HUGE profit. Sign up for places like Ticketmaster and Stub Hub and get early notices and even early access to concerts. I just did this with Taylor Swift and Blink-182 and make a profit of $475 together. Not bad money! You don’t have to buy expensive seats (although people pay better money for those).
11. Become A Sales Agent For An Offline Product And Take It Online: Have you ever come across a product that really caught your eye that you have never seen online before? If you have and you still know where to find it, why not consider trying to market it online? There are really countless ways of doing this, depending on the nature of the product and where you get hold of it from, but in general if you come across something that hasn’t really taken off online yet you have a great chance of beating everyone else to the punch.
12. Look for Odd Jobs on Craigslist.com: People in your town need your help and they will pay you for it. Seriously. The jobs are there on Craigslist.com.
13. Amazon Mechanical Turk: With Amazon Mechanical Turk, you do micro-tasks. Like translating words, compare pictures, etc.
Keep in mind, since focus groups are usually conducted offline and in a real location, you need to register with those who are around you or you live close to them, in order to be able to participate and make money.
